Originating in the late 1960s in Geneva, the International Baccalaureate (IB) organisation was established to design and provide international education programmes for a better world.

Progressively popular; today, the IB has a presence in more than 150 countries. The IB organisation takes a holistic approach to education, whereby teachers model, facilitate and set expectations for children to develop personally and academically.

The IB philosophy and mission statement align with our school values that promote open-mindedness and respect amongst our student body.

The IB Continuum

The International Baccalaureate programmes form a continuum of international education for students ages three to 19 years:

  • Primary Years Programme (PYP) for ages three to 11
  • Middle Years Programme (MYP) for ages 11 to 16
  • Diploma Programme (DP) for ages 16 to 19

This continuum approach ensures that students progress methodically through a comprehensive curriculum and well-balanced learning experience, finally graduating with the IB Diploma.

The IB Diploma Programme, designed to deliver an international passport to higher education, is known as a leading university preparatory curriculum, well-respected by universities and colleges worldwide.

IB World Schools

IB World Schools are schools that have been authorised by the IB organisation to offer IB programmes.

Recognised as an IB World School since 2018, ICS Côte d’Azur International School is accredited and authorised by the IB organisation to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for ages three to 11.

At ICS Côte d’Azur, we welcome students from around the world, offering them an international education within the inquiry-based framework of the IB Primary Years Programme, that integrates both the national curricula for France and England. For families on the move, whether they continue to reside in France or relocate abroad, they can feel confident that after ICS Côte d'Azur their child will be able to join a wide range of schools and adapt to a variety of curricula.

The IB Learner Profile
