Innovation on a global stage: the Globeducate Robotics Challenge 2025
Jennifer Wallace

Six of our students had the exciting opportunity to travel to Paris to take part in the Globeducate Robotics Challenge, hosted this year by Le Collège EIB Monceau. The event brought together teams from across the Globeducate network — with schools from France, Spain, Italy, Morocco, Cyprus, and even Canada taking part. Some teams joined in person in Paris, while others participated remotely, thanks to the hybrid format. This innovative setup allowed students from around the world to connect through robotics, encouraging collaboration and skill-sharing across borders.

This was the fourth time ICS has taken part in this exciting challenge — and this year’s theme, Retro Gaming, was a huge hit! Inspired by classic video games like Mario Bros, the competition tasked students with completing coding and logic-based challenges on a themed game mat. Teams were divided into three age categories: elementary, middle, and high school.

After a full day of training and competition, our ICS teams gave it their all:

  • Chandler, Teddy and Margot finished 7th in the elementary category
  • Julian, Charles and Peter came 9th — a strong result in a highly competitive field

Some student reflections from the day:

  • Margot: “It was challenging, but I really enjoyed it. I love going to Paris!”
  • Teddy: “It was so fun, and it did get harder as the day went on. I would love to do it again.”

And from Gabrielle, our STEAM Coordinator who accompanied them with Ms Morgane

Gabrielle: "I couldn’t be prouder of our students — they rose to the challenge in a completely new environment, and their attitude and determination were truly inspiring to witness."

The day concluded with a closing ceremony featuring speeches from Julie Costes, President of Globeducate France, and Jean-Xavier Moreau, Managing Director of EIB Paris Schools. Both leaders highlighted the importance of innovation and robotics across all Globeducate schools.

Congratulations to all participating teams for their creativity, perseverance, and fantastic team spirit. We’re already looking forward to the next edition in 2026 — even more ambitious and inspiring than ever!
