PY3 Embark on a "Classe Bleue": A Residential Trip to the Coast
Jennifer Wallace
Our PY3 students had an unforgettable residential trip to La Londe-les-Maures, packed with hands-on learning, teamwork, and adventure.
On Monday, they explored the local marine environment with a beachside biology session, discovering the rich flora and fauna of the coastline and learning about the role of fishing in the local community.
Tuesday began with their first sailing lesson, followed by fun outdoor games including football, frisbee, and pétanque.
On Wednesday, the group took a ferry to the beautiful Île de Porquerolles, where they visited a historic fortress and windmill, competed in a sandcastle competition, and hiked around the island.
Thursday brought more marine discoveries on the beach, including crabs and sea urchins, as well as more sandcastle rivalry!. In the afternoon, they returned to sailing, showing great progress in teamwork and communication, and took part in a fascinating radio discovery session. The day ended on a high with a much-anticipated disco evening!
On Friday, the children confidently put all their new sailing skills to the test, impressing their instructors and teachers with their progress and positive attitude.
Throughout the week, the centre staff were full of praise for the students’ excellent behaviour – a wonderful reflection of their maturity and enthusiasm.
