Back to School means Back to Netball with Nicky!

Back to school means the return of weekly PE lessons and school sports and this month we’re taking a look at our School Netball Club in particular.

Launched last year as the initiative of our sports teacher Nicky Nash, the club is going from strength to strength.

For years, Netball has flown under the radar when it comes to mainstream popularity but it certainly has a history when it comes to schools – becoming a staple activity along with basketball, hockey, tennis, athletics and football. Now is the perfect time to dive headfirst into this sport to reap all the benefits it has to offer.

Netball is an exciting, fast-paced and skillful fair competitive game. There are two teams trying to keep or gain possession of the ball, before scoring a goal. It is played globally in around 115 countries by over 20 million participants. The team with the most goals at the end of the match wins. It is an inclusive team sport that has the ability to keep students active and engaged in physical education. It is also the ideal feeder into the junior club.

When Nicky is not busy coaching our students she plays for the Netball Nice Club and recently played in the France Netball Cup in Paris.

Nicky has already been in touch with other schools to organize inter-school matches and she is also very happy to announce that she has invited a player from Netball France who will come to the ICS Netball Club to talk to the players and run workshops with them throughout the year.

What an exciting year ahead awaits us !
