Eating healthy and local at ICS
Eating healthy and local at ICS
Emna Metoui
Healthy eating is important to us all! At ICS we work closely with our canteen provider GARIG to provide our students with a varied, tasty, balanced and nutritious meal each day.
Based on the feedback from the survey that we received from our parents, our Head of Early Years and Safeguarding, Anne Henderson met with our canteen providers at the beginning of this school year to work on some improvements. They talked about allergies, intolerances and keeping our community safe. They also discussed the preferences of our students as our community is very international and the children often have varied tastes. Garig were very helpful in explaining how the food is prepared and served and are very open to working and sharing menu suggestions with us.
GARIG supports our local communities and ensures our children get the freshest and most nutritious options by sourcing seasonal ingredients from local providers when possible. The fruit, vegetables and cereals are for the majority BIO. Their commitment to quality extends to the meat poultry and fish as well, as they are exclusively sourced from France, guaranteeing their origin and promoting sustainable farming practices.
Our students embrace our international cultures with special menus during the year whilst enjoying the French lifestyle eating a four course lunch together with their classmates each day.
