ICS Community Welcome: Emma Deram
Jennifer Wallace

ICS is delighted to welcome Emma Deram to our Early Years team. Emma brings her passion for teaching young children, her international experience, and her enthusiasm for creating a joyful, stimulating, and caring learning environment.
Emma shares with us:
Born in Madagascar and adopted in France, I spent my early childhood in Réunion. Life on this island undoubtedly sparked in me a love for multicultural environments.
From a young age, I chose to pursue studies that would allow me to have a profession rich in human and cultural experiences. I studied Applied Foreign Languages for Economics at the University of Nice and at NUIG in Ireland, and then completed a Master’s degree in teaching French as a Foreign Language (FLE) at the University of Aix-en-Provence and in Germany.
This profession has allowed me to teach in France and abroad, to students aged 3 to 88. Teaching methods and subjects naturally vary depending on whether the audience is very young children, adolescents in high school, or adults, but the same passion for this work drives me, whatever the age of my students.
Since adolescence, I have always worked with children—first in a nursery in the UK, then as a youth centre leader during school holidays with my BFA. Very young learners are a fascinating audience: their spontaneity, warmth, energy, incredible adaptability, creativity, emotional intelligence, and enthusiasm for learning naturally led me to conduct university research in FLE with children who had not yet begun learning to read in their mother tongue.
It is therefore a great joy for me to join the teaching team at ICS, where everyone is fully committed to educational projects that prioritise the happiness, safety, and well-being of children.
