Under a blazing sun, the PY6 students from ICS turned up the heat at the French Riviera International Schools League (FRISL) basketball tournament on Wednesday, May 27th. The entire grade level rallied together to field three competitive teams—two boys' squads and one girls' squad—all showing incredible grit despite the soaring temperatures. In a thrilling twist of fate, the tournament's semi-finals saw the ICS Boys' A and B teams face off against each other in a showcase of internal talent. The Boys' A team clinched the victory, ultimately going on to defeat Mougins in a spectacular final to bring home the gold medal. Proving the school's depth of talent, both the Boys' B team and the Girls' team played fiercely to secure impressive third-place finishes in their respective leagues.

The triumphs on the court were matched only by the overwhelming pride of the players and faculty. Sports teacher Ms. Nicky beamed after the tournament, stating, "I am so proud of them. Their hard work, team spirit, and sportsmanship got them to the final. Every team should be proud of themselves." The students were equally ecstatic about their monumental day. "We didn't let too many points in against us throughout the whole tournament, I'm so happy," shared a thrilled Luca from PY6. His classmate Osman echoed the sentiment, reflecting on the grueling but rewarding day: "It was so hot and we were playing outside, but I'm so proud that we won, it was amazing!"
