Our Initiatives for Break Time

Our Initiatives for Break Time
Jennifer Wallace

Whilst we know that all children need break times to refresh their brains and return re-energised to the classroom, at ICS Côte d'Azur some students approached us to ask for specific clubs and tournaments during break times, where they could learn new skills or continue practising a hobby or passion that they were nurturing.

And we listened! We now have four new clubs for our students designed to engage their brains and bodies during their breaks:
  • STEAM club for PY3 to PY6 with our STEAM Coordinator Océane has proved to be very popular, with the first ‘spaghetti tower challenge’ inspiring the students to reach new heights
  • Sewing club with PY5/FLE teacher Gabrielle for PY5 and PY6 students has just started. It has an eco-focus, and they will be reusing waste textiles to create practical (and cute) accessories to sell at school.
  • Gabrielle is also our Eco-Schools Leader, and she also runs eco-club at lunchtimes with eco warriors. Recently, they have been sharing ideas and plans for a waste reduction week.
  • Our Sports teacher Nicky is hosting a table tennis tournament during morning break and lunchtime for PY3-6. A winner will be announced in time for the winter holidays.

Thank you to our teachers and students for making these clubs a success.
