On a sunny Sunday morning, 49 ICS Côte d'Azur students and 4 staff volunteers joined over 400 other local children to take part in the annual Mimosa Mini Runners event. At the end of the morning over 10,000€ had been raised for charity!

Mimosa is a volunteer-run charity based in the Riviera region that raises money for local children's cancer research and support groups. They host fun community events throughout the year such as a gala, bake sales, workshops and clothes swaps.

ISN Nice, ICS Côte d’Azur and Mougins British International School were proud sponsors of the 2023 Mimosa Fun Run, and all three schools have a history of working with the organisation or participating in fundraising events over the last ten years. In total, over 90 Globeducate students joined in as runners or volunteers.

Amanda, our Head of School, was the MC for the event, and Nicky, our sports teacher, led the warm up activities and started the races. Our 49 student runners joined in the 800m, 1600m or 3200m run with lots of enthusiasm and energy!

Lisa, a PY6 student shared: "This was my second time doing the Mimosa run and I couldn't wait to do it again. I ran the 3200m but I think I accidentally did an extra lap! Mimosa raises money for kids with cancer, which is a really important cause and if I think about the IB learner profile I am caring and reflective when I do an activity like this as I'm thinking of others."

Amanda, Head of School, says: "As an IB School, student agency is at the heart of everything we do, and we want our students to know that it doesn't matter how young you are, you can make a difference to someone's life. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to experience this beyond the classroom, and in partnership with other local schools too."

As members of Globeducate, the schools prepare each student to be a global citizen who can shape the world. We are committed to inspiring and empowering students to make a positive difference while showing empathy and compassion with people everywhere. Taking concepts and ideas beyond the classroom and applying them translates into real, character-building learning experiences for our students that can prove meaningful to their lives and the lives of others.

Many of our students, staff and their families have been affected by cancer, and sponsoring and participating in the Mimosa run is a meaningful way to join together with the local community to help raise funds for such an important cause.

We look forward to participating in other upcoming Mimosa events in the future.
