PY6 Attend First Ever Primary School MUN

PY6 Attend First Ever Primary School MUN
Jennifer Wallace

On Friday 20th May our PY6 students had the privilege of participating in the first SONUM (Model United Nations) held in this region for students from primary schools. Coached by Gabrielle Dinocourt, PY6 teacher and Luciana Gassi, mother of one of our students and organiser for the event, our students learned over several months the rules of organisation and debate, how to research effectively and how to prepare their arguments.

MUN is a great exercise to help students develop and hone their skills in public speaking, group communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution. We were immensely proud of our PY6 students that day, who not only showed maturity and prowess, but also came home with the awards for best committee delegate and best general political text.

We look forward to SONUM becoming an annual event for our students.
